CLC1 Assessment Vs Pre-Assessment - Mardi2100 - 03-17-2011 01:56 PM

Which one is more difficult/challanging , Pre-Assessment or Final Assessment? I passed my pre-assessment with 72% (cut score is 70%)but don't really understand why few questions went wrong.... lowest score I got was in 'Elements and Standards' under 'Analysis and Interpretation of Information/Data' ... any suggestions??

If memory serves they were about the same. The section you were weakest on is the interpretation of questions based upon clues in the questions and answers. This was discussed in another thread. Whenever you see a question asking you which answer is "best" or "most correct" you have to really think it through and look for the key words like "most" and "some" and "think".

Thanks David. I'm going to try again and see how it goes ...

My experience with CLC1 is that I passed the pre-assessment with an 85%, so I went ahead and scheduled the final. I literally did not pick up a book or anything between the pre-assessment and the final and I probably should have. I scored a 76% on the final, which was a pass, but wow...I should have probably at least read a little bit!

Also look up and learn any vocabulary words in the COS. If I remember correct like 8 questions were solvable knowing those definitions.

Thanks David and Benaze for your input. I passed the final assessment today with 84%. I didn't have the book so I did study from mindedge and criticalthinking.org.

Thanks again...

Well done!

RE: CLC1 Assessment Vs Pre-Assessment - shawks - 03-24-2011 10:03 AM

Ok, so I passed the CLC1pre-assessment with an 86. My mentor says I am ready, reading some replies here, I feel somewhat comfortable. Any final thoughts or tips not already shared?

RE: CLC1 Assessment Vs Pre-Assessment - Mardi2100 - 03-24-2011 01:02 PM

Just remember elements , standards etc and take your time to answer questions. I did correct 3-4 questions while reviewing again.

Good luck.

I am scheduled to retake this on the 29th. I missed it by 1 question last time. The Course mentor said I took it to fast. Was like 33 min or something like. He said to take atleast 60 minutes on the test.

RE: CLC1 Assessment Vs Pre-Assessment - Mardi2100 - 03-24-2011 01:16 PM

I spent like an hour to finish and then about 30 mins to review... Smile

Good Luck guys.

RE: CLC1 Assessment Vs Pre-Assessment - rochetm - 04-08-2011 05:01 PM

Just took my test and passed it. Got 77 and 78% on pretests, then 78% on the real one. I didn't really study like I should have but I got it done.

So glad that class is over.

Passed it today. Did worse on the exam than I did on the pre-assessment. 79% on real test, 82% on pre-test. A ton of multiple answer questions and pretty stressful...glad that's over.

RE: CLC1 Assessment Vs Pre-Assessment - cshkuru - 04-19-2011 07:12 AM

A ton of multiple answer questions and pretty stressful...glad that's over.

Amen! But I passed so I am only complaining a little, specifically:

My exam also had the joy of not seeming to correspond at all with the study materials or the preassessment.

Dont know if it is just me but all pre-assessments have been easier than assessments here at wgu.

I was just told by my mentor that in 2 weeks they will be changing the cut score to 10 points lower than it currently is. I will be waiting 2 weeks to start that one up. Wink

The cut score did indeed drop to 60 on this course on May 1, 2012.

This has been a great help dbaylor! Thank you so much. I scored a 74 on the pre-assessment but have little exposure to this type of "thinking" as it pertains to a methodical version of critical thinking and/or interpretation. Your posts here have been awesome. Thanks!
